Vani Privacy Policy

• Vani transcribes your speech on your device. Your audio and transcripts are not uploaded to Devi.
• Vani has no user accounts and shows no advertising. We do not build a profile of you.
• The app downloads speech models over HTTPS from Devi-operated storage. That is a one-way download; no audio or transcript is sent with it.
• Optional post-processing is off by default. If you turn it on, the text of a transcript is sent to the third-party AI provider you choose, using an API key you supply. This is the main case where your text leaves your device, and only when you enable it.
• The website waitlist collects your email address, only to tell you when Vani is available.

The categories below describe what the app and website handle. Most of this is processed only on your device and never reaches Devi.

When you dictate, Vani records audio, runs a speech-recognition model locally, and types the result into whichever app your cursor is in. The recording, the model, and the resulting text are handled on your computer.

Your audio is not uploaded. Your transcripts, dictation history, custom vocabulary, and settings are stored locally on your device in your user application-data folder, and are not sent to Devi. Removing the app, or deleting these files, removes that data from your machine.

Vani is built so that, in normal use, nothing about your dictation leaves your machine. There are a few specific, limited cases where the app or website makes a network request:

Model downloads

To transcribe speech, Vani downloads one or more speech-recognition models the first time you select them. These files are downloaded over HTTPS from Devi-operated storage at vani-models.devios.co. This is a one-way download of the model itself. No audio or transcript is sent as part of it. Our hosting provider may process standard request data, such as your IP address and the file requested, to deliver the file; this is not linked to your dictation.

Optional AI post-processing (off by default)

Vani includes an optional feature that cleans up or reformats a transcript using a third-party AI provider. This feature is turned off by default. If you turn it on, you choose a provider (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, Cerebras, OpenRouter, z.ai, or AWS Bedrock) and enter your own API key for that provider. When the feature is on, the text of the transcript you are processing is sent over HTTPS to the provider you selected so it can return the edited text. That text is then handled under that provider’s own privacy policy and terms, not ours. Devi does not receive this text. If you do not enable this feature, no transcript text is sent anywhere.

Updates

Vani v1 does not include in-app automatic update checks. The app does not contact an update server on its own. The Microsoft Store or the installer or distribution channel you obtained Vani from may process installation data to deliver and update the app, under their own terms.

Website waitlist

If you join the Vani waitlist on this website, the email address you submit is sent to Devi so we can tell you when Vani is available. The form may use an anti-abuse check (Cloudflare Turnstile) to confirm you are not a bot.

On-device data (audio buffers, transcripts, history, settings, vocabulary, and any API keys you enter) is stored locally on your computer under your user account. Vani does not maintain a copy of this data on Devi servers.

All network requests the app makes, including model downloads and optional post-processing, use HTTPS with modern encryption in transit. Waitlist data submitted on this website is transmitted over HTTPS and stored by Devi using access controls intended to limit who can read it.

No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable, current measures to protect the limited data described here.

Vani has no advertising and no analytics SDKs, and Devi does not sell your personal information. Data is disclosed only to the following types of parties, and only for the purposes shown:

• Hosting and content delivery providers that serve model downloads and this website, and that process standard technical request data to deliver those files.
• A third-party AI provider you choose, and only if you enable post-processing, which receives the transcript text you send for editing under its own policies.
• The Microsoft Store, or the distribution channel you obtained Vani from, which processes installation data to deliver the app under its own privacy terms.
• Authorities or successors where required by law, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case any transfer of personal data would remain subject to this policy.

You stay in control of your data:

• Keep it fully local. Leave post-processing off (the default) and Vani will not send any transcript text off your device.
• Access and delete on-device data. Your transcripts, history, settings, and keys live in files on your machine. You can view, export, or delete dictation history from the app, and uninstalling the app or deleting its data folder removes this data.
• Control network features. You control whether post-processing is used and, if so, which provider receives your text.
• Waitlist email. You can ask us to access or delete the email you submitted by emailing support@devios.co.
• Regional rights. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Contact us and we will honor applicable requests.

On-device data is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app. Dictation history is kept locally until you delete it in the app or delete the app data. Waitlist email addresses are kept until Vani has launched and we have contacted you, or until you ask us to remove the address, whichever comes first.

Vani is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information through the website, contact us and we will delete it.

Vani is published by DeviOS, a brand of Stelify Capital Group Inc., which is the data controller for the limited data described here. Where data protection law applies, we process this data to provide and maintain the app and website you requested, and based on your consent for optional features such as the waitlist and post-processing. This policy is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Stelify Capital Group Inc. operates, without limiting any non-waivable rights you have under your local law.

If we change how Vani handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Because Vani processes dictation on your device, material changes should be rare. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
